Windows Vista: Security

The safety of a computer is of utmost importance. A computer may contain extremely confidential information like credit car details, business projects or any other secret data that must be safe-guarded. There are many occasions where these data may get leaked due to some flaws in the security settings. And it really gets frustrating when such incidents happen. That is why the Microsoft group has updated the security settings in Windows Vista. The Windows Security Center, which was first introduced in Windows XP SP2, is now much more robust than its earlier version and is extremely efficient in keeping your important data secure.

From the single panel of Windows Security Center, you can now get information about your firewall settings, antivirus status, information about your anti-spyware tools, internet security and many more security aspects. So it acts like the headquarter for the security of your computer. From here, you can see if your firewall is working fine and you can see the update status of your antivirus. Let us see in detail of how Windows Security Center protects:

·         Windows Security Center monitors the working of your firewall. You may use a windows firewall or a third party firewall. You get up to date information of your firewall and it notifies you if there is any problem along with necessary steps to rectify it.

·         Windows Security Center ensures that you are using recommended Microsoft settings and your automatic updating feature is enabled. If it detects any anomalies then it will alert you and give you solution.

·         Windows Security Center sees to it that you have an antivirus installed along with anti-spyware. It makes sure that real-time scanning is enables and the files are not out of date. You will get an alert if there is problem.

·         Windows Security Center also monitors your internet security settings. It oversees the activities of Internet Explorer 7 and makes sure that your computer is safe from all the junk of internet. So now you can browse the internet without any tension.

Windows Automatic Updates

@ 11:00 am 09/07/08 by William D. Cox
Frequent consultations with both HP and Windows have failed to determine why all automatic Windows updates fail on my computer. I can manually download those that appear on the Windows website but automatic ones don't download.

This is one of the great thigns about Vista is the added security. I've heard some say that this is also a downfall since the security went a little bit overboard, but better too much than too little.

Vista is so slow and life consuming . It eats your PC's life and slows it down i tries to install it in my new pc which has 4GB RAM yet my pc slowed down and it crashed so i am still using Windows XP which has to be the best Windows has offered to its customers.

Window vista is a joke, i use window xp any day over it and i use zone alarm security suite over any window firewall or security suite. Lastly, Firefox over internet explorer for browser security and ease of use. Only thing good about Microsoft is the xbo360.

Good article, but Vista's basically just a new UI and a couple minor tweaks. UAC's not a revolutionary concept, and it's so badly implemented that it drives most users nuts.
