After a brutal brawl that broke out when left-wing Antifa members "intercept [ed]" a group of right-wing "Proud Boys" in Manhattan Friday night, police say they are looking for a total of twelve people caught on video resorting to violence, including three Antifa and nine Proud Boys. Nobody from the Proud Boys was taken into custody then, even though video that was posted - and later removed - by one of their own members showed Proud Boys openly admitting to having committed crimes at the scene.
On Monday, New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Marc Molinaro said in an interview with NY1 that the Metropolitan Republican Club should not have invited Gavin McInnes to speak at its headquarters.
So far the NYPD has made three arrests connected to the brawl that erupted a few blocks from the Metropolitan Republican Club.
When a police officer drove up on a scooter, the crowd dispersed, with no one from The Proud Boys being questioned or arrested.
Cuomo said he had also requested that the Federal Bureau of Investigation assist.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said: "The NYPD is fully investigating last night's attack involving the Proud Boys".
Usain Bolt scores first goals for Central Coast Mariners
BBC reports that the Mariners topped Macarthur South West United 4-0 in a preseason match. Usain Bolt's soccer career just might be off and, um, running.
"There is certainly no place for that kind of violence or disorder anywhere in New York City".
According to the police department, three Antifa members were arrested for a separate incident on 84th Street, where a Proud Boys member's backpack was stolen.
"Authorities must review these videos immediately and make arrests and prosecute as appropriate", Gov. Andrew Cuomo said on Twitter. The Southern Poverty Law Center, one of the country's most prominent civil rights watchdog groups, describes McInnes and his organization as being aligned with white supremacist and fascist groups.
The NYPD did not identify the attackers or victims to Bustle, however, and reportedly ignored emails from BuzzFeed News asking why Proud Boys members were not arrested. Why did this club invite the Proud Boys, a hate group with a history of inciting violence?
During his appearance at this club, McInnes used the sword to reenact the assassination of Japanese socialist leader Inejiro Asanuma, who was killed in 1960 by a young, far-right nationalist.Shay Horse, a Brooklyn photojournalist who witnessed Friday night's attack, told BuzzFeed News that the incident took place after police escorted Proud Boys and other event attendees out of the club. "Do you believe they have a positive contribution to the political dialogue at this time?"
Two of the men were seen on video kicking a man lying on the sidewalk, and the other was seen punching someone as they tried to leave the area.
