The Los Angeles Rams will enjoy unexpected home comforts when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs. As part of the global series, the Rams were selected to play in Mexico City this year instead of London like previous seasons, but it looks like things are up in the air at the moment with the game scheduled to take place in less than a week.
This situation is sub-optimal for fans located in Mexico City who long awaited seeing these two teams play and those who had plans to travel to see the teams play.
It's not often that the NFL's worldwide games end up being marquee matchups, but in this case, Mexico City was set to host two of the league's elite in a crucial cross-conference game. Efforts could have been taken to better the field but clearly, the National Football League and the players involved remained concerned that those efforts would not be enough.
"It's not fair to risk our health", one prominent player said today", Schefter reports.
"We are working closely with the field manager at Azteca Stadium and others to ensure that we have an NFL-quality surface for our game, and we are looking forward to kicking off in Mexico City on Monday night", league spokesman Brian McCarthy said.
Abu Dhabi summit: Oil production cuts may be necessary
RBC Capital Markets says the likelihood of an official production cut at OPEC's December 6 meeting has increased. He also made it a point to mention that they were not in the business of predicting future oil prices.
The stadium had recently hosted a concert as well as a heavy slate of soccer matches that had caused significant damage to a hybrid surface of both synthetic and natural grass that was installed earlier this year.
"The field is not in the best condition and that concerns me for the next tournament, ' said Cruz Azul's coach, Pedro Caixinha". Both teams sitting at 9-1.
The Associated Press said the field was damaged due to recent rains and several big events.
The Rams are required to keep the Coliseum available as a backup in case of a problem with global games.
With only six days remaining until the game is scheduled to be played, a decision should be coming soon. The Rams will be announcing ticket information for Monday night's game shortly, as well.
