The court filing indicated that Mueller's team also had suffered a potential setback, after gaining access to a witness with potential knowledge of several key events relevant to the probe during his tenure with Donald Trump's presidential campaign from March to August 2016, including a Trump Tower meeting attended by a Russian lawyer and the Republican National Convention.
Both the special counsel and Mr Manafort's attorneys agreed there was no reason to delay sentencing and asked the court to set a date for it.
Manafort was convicted on 8 counts in September in the Eastern District of Virginia for failure to register as a foreign agent in light of his political connection to former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych, alongside charges of tax-evasion, conspiracy and lying to federal agents.
Manafort was a long-time Republican political consultant who made tens of millions of dollars working for pro-Kremlin politicians in Ukraine before joining the Trump campaign in March 2016, promising to work for free.
Prosecutors did not provide details of the alleged lies but said they would do so prior to sentencing.
Manafort, 69, now faces a stiff prison sentence as the result of his August conviction in Virginia and for his guilty plea in a separate Washington, DC, case where he pledged to help prosecutors.

The report's findings, while representative of a broad scientific consensus, run counter to Trump's agenda. The report found it's not changing back any time soon - and said the country has to be prepared.
Special counsel Robert Mueller claimed that Paul Manafort, the former Trump campaign manager, lied to prosecutors after striking a plea deal, and requested that he be sentenced for his crimes.
President Trump has branded the Mueller investigation a "witch hunt" and insisted there was no collusion between his team and Russian Federation.
"The consequences are potentially devastating for Manafort", said Washington attorney Shanlon Wu, who represented Manafort's ex-business associate Rick Gates before he pleaded guilty and became a star witness for prosecutors.
Manafort denies lying, and said he provided information to the government, as well as lived-up to his end of the deal.
As part of his plea agreement, Manafort also agreed to forfeit five properties he owned in NY, including his apartment at Trump Tower and his sprawling estate in the Hamptons.
Without a pardon, Manafort could spend the rest of his life in prison, experts said.
