Everything came to a head last night when Davidson invited Crenshaw to join him on SNL's "Weekend Update," in an attempt to reconcile their differences.
Crenshaw, who wears an eye patch, lost his right eye to an IED in Afghanistan during his third combat tour. He added, "Can you imagine being Pete Davidson's mom? it cant be easy having everyone mad at your son and roommate".
Pete Davidson addressed his controversy head-on last night by apologizing to Dan Crenshaw in person and on 'SNL'.
Surprisingly, Crenshaw appeared on last night's Saturday Night Live for a segment with the edgy comedian.
A week earlier in a segment about candidates in the election, Davidson compared Crenshaw to "a hitman in a porno movie".
Crenshaw was given a chance to take a few cheap shots at Davidson.
"There's a lot of lessons to learn here", the now-Congressman-elect said on Saturday.
"This is Pete Davidson".
Sri Lankan prez Maithripala Sirisena dissolves parliament, snap polls on Jan 5
Sri Lanka's ousted Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe arrives at a news conference in Colombo , Sri Lanka October 27, 2018. Perera said the dissolution was carried out so that Sirisena could avoid defeat in parliament next week.
He also told the audience that given the show's broadcast was taking place on Veterans Day weekend, he wanted everyone to connect with a veteran. Not just that the left and the right can still agree on some things.
However, he got one from Davidson during the latest installment of Weekend Update Tonight.
"I get that Pete is a comedian and like all comedians is afforded a little more leeway to bring laughter and levity into serious issues and situations", he clarified. "Tell a veteran, 'Never forget, '" Crenshaw said. "Maybe say, 'thanks for your service, ' but I would actually encourage you to say something else". "Not separated by some imaginary barrier between civilians and veterans, but connected together as grateful fellow Americans who will never forget the sacrifices of veterans past and present".
Davidson's father, Scott, a New York City firefighter, died on September 11, 2001 when the World Trade Center was attacked by terrorists, Davidson was just seven years old.
"Ha, an Ariana Grande song", Davidson said awkwardly.
Davidson then personally apologized to Crenshaw and asked if they were "good".
"When you say "Never forget" to a veteran, you are saying implying that, as an American, you are in it with them", Crenshaw continued. "And that is for both of us".
