Consumer-ready 5G networks have yet to be deployed in earnest in the USA, but Qualcomm is getting ahead of the curve by announcing its latest processor and modem so that it can be integrated into upcoming smartphones as the first networks go live.
Later this week, at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Summit in Maui, HI, Samsung and Verizon will unveil the proof of concept smartphone, powered by the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon Mobile Platform with the Snapdragon X50 5G NR modem and antenna modules with integrated RF transceiver, RF front-end and antenna elements. As of now, there's no announcement on whether or not 5G phones will enter India any time soon.
As we get closer to wireless carriers bringing their next-generation 5G networks online, the possibility of 5G-capable smartphones are grabbing most of the attention. Along with network latency that is faster than the blink of an eye. Snapdragon 855 is the world's first commercial 5G mobile platform, designed for premium-tier flagship devices.
