Revealed at CES 2019 in Las Vegas, the collaborative device will be a Mercedes-Benz-branded Vívoactive 3 Global Positioning System smartwatch, which will be available globally through Mercedes-Benz dealerships in March this year. The cabin of the old auto was pretty much a cramped affair, and attempts to address this sees changes in dimension and scope. It has grown 1.9 inches longer and 2.0 inches wider, rides on a 1.1-inch-longer wheelbase, and is slightly lower to the ground than before, making it even larger than the A-class sedan.
Come May however, the engine range for the all-new CLA will broaden to include several gas-powered turbo fours and diesel-powered mills. The new CLA250 will use a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (like its predecessor) to drive its front wheels, or optionally, all four wheels.
GIVE the new Mercedes-Benz CLA a wave and it can read your mind and body.
Also worth noting on the CLA are its new set of taillights and redesigned rear bumper that further highlight the car's sporiter character. Legroom, however, is broadly similar to the previous model's and the boot has shrunk by 10 litres to 460 litres.
"Capturing a 2.4% market share*, the achievement cements Mercedes-Benz as the undisputed luxury lifestyle brand in Malaysia and the global arena", it proclaimed. The lower section is visually separated from the main body of the instrument cluster by a "trench", and it appears to "float" in front of the instrument cluster, an effect highlighted by ambient lighting.
What MPs really think will happen after a no-deal Brexit
Earlier, former Treasury permanent secretary Nick Macpherson tweeted that it was unrealistic to expect such a timeframe. We have to face the world as we find it, not as we wish it to be, and we have to deal with the facts as we find them".
As with the A-class, the CLA also receives driver assistance systems originally seen on the most recent S-class, allowing the vehicle to drive semi-autonomously for the first time.
As for the multimedia system, the 2020 CLA gets the latest version of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) system.
The CLA borrows semi-autonomous driving technology which is the same found in the S-Class luxury saloon, including autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist and radar-guided cruise control.
"This is not the only new feature by which the CLA offers a great deal of automotive intelligence".
The new CLA, in many ways a shrunken version of the CLs in terms of its styling, does get a little longer and wider than before (two inches are gained in both directions). The current CLA in India is priced between Rs 31.72 lakh to Rs 36.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) but expect the new one to be introduced at higher price. It's expected to be revealed later this year.
