Katherine Marie Helmond was born in 1929 and got her start as an actress on the NY stage in the 1950s, where she ran a summer theatre in the Catskills and taught acting.
Katherine Helmond, the Tony-winning actress who appeared on "Who's the Boss?" and "Soap", died at age 89, it was reported. That series ran from 1977-81, and during that period Helmond received four Emmy nominations for Best Actress.
Helmond voiced Lizzie in all three Disney/Pixar Cars movies. She earned four Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe for her role as Jessica Tate.
A native of Galveston, Texas, Helmond's credits date back to the 1950s and she worked steadily in small roles through the decades. She said, "I think the advice that I would give to somebody trying to start is that you have to take every job that comes along, and that you look on every job not as, "Am I the star?"
