Former child star Feldman was prompted to speak out in defence of the late King of Pop after watching the much talked about HBO documentary in which director Dan Reed details Jackson's alleged sexual molestation of James Safechuck and Wade Robson. In the first part of the Leaving Neverland relatives of both Safechuck and Robson recount how they met Jackson and how innocent and childlike he acted when he was around them.
To his adoring public, and for a time to the children he famously befriended, Michael Jackson was an eternally childlike Peter Pan. They and their families were invited into his wondrous world, entranced by the singer's fairy-tale existence as his career reached its peak.
The men describe their time at Jackson's Neverland Ranch, telling how he gave them alcohol, showed them pornography and even purchased a wedding ring for the underage Safechuck.

In a response tweet, user @hatergene argued that the response was "perfectly on brand" for Jackson's estate. "'Wade Robson and James Safechuck have both testified under oath that Michael never did anything inappropriate toward them, ' the statement read".
