According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple's service will subsidize services like HBO charging just $9.99 a month instead of the typical $15 a month for HBO NOW. While the company does offer the best collection of original content, with the ever rising number of cheaper competing services and rampant piracy, Netflix will have to make drastic changes to its pricing sooner rather than later.
"This is a pivotal shift for Apple and in our opinion, the biggest strategic move since the iPhone was unveiled in 2007", he said. Interestingly enough, Netflix is not going to be part Apple's new platform. Cheddar previously reported that Apple was working on a gaming-related subscription service. It might not be a Netflix-killer at first, but whatever Apple unveils Monday, it's likely the start of a much bigger push, according to Wedbush Securities analyst Daniel Ives.
The company has also declared that the next event will be taking place on March 25, 2019 at the Steve Jobs Theater, which is located on Apple's Cupertino campus. Of course, premium services like HBO, Showtime, Starz, and more have long put pressure on cable services, only to settle in a world where all content providers seem to have found their niche. Along with movies and TV series to binge on, Apple could launch its own original programmes which is something Netflix and Amazon have both had huge success with. In terms of revenue, it will apparently be distributed among the game developers based on the time duration that gamers spent playing those games. Then late in the year, last year, Apple stopped selling these subscriptions and Netflix content boss Ted Sarandos said they had not considered Apple an important source of revenue.

Apple gets a cut from each subscription service you subscribe to through iTunes.
Apple based the service on Texture, an app it acquired a year ago. It's possible Apple could bundle its video streaming service with Apple Music and other services to provide a similar deal to Amazon Prime.
In 2018, Apple had acquired the digital newsstand Texture which allowed subscribers to choose among 200 magazines to read for $9.99 a month.
