Kelly was detained by the Cook County sheriff in IL and will be transported to the county jail on Wednesday evening, sheriff's department spokesperson Sophia Ansari told NPR. The current predicament he finds himself in is not directly related to the prosecutors undertaken by Michael Avenatti & company, even though causal links do readily exist between Kelly's ex-wife Drea and the singer's twisted history of molesting underage women.
Kelly's spokesperson said that the singer approached the court "in good spirit", and was prepared to pay up to $60,000 of the debt, but the judge demanded the entire debt be settled immediately.
Kelly left the courtroom with his lawyers through a different door than he entered.
Hours before Wednesday's hearing, CBS aired an interview with the musician - his first public comments since being indicted last month on the sex assault charges - in which he at one point seemed to succumb to his emotions. But some attorney's, like Brenda Derouen, saw the interview and thought, "What is R. Kelly doing?"
He was previously out on bond after being charged in Chicago with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse.

Waters has previously filed an inquiry for more information on Trump's finances to Deutsche Bank, which Democrats like Rep. Trump said they could have held it a few days later and had more time to prepare.
After his February 22 arrest in Chicago, Kelly spent a weekend in jail before someone posted his $100,000 bail. "I mainly want to say that I'm in a happy place with my life and I'm not being brainwashed or anything like that", she told TMZ in 2017. "Do you hear me? People. There are older men that like younger women ... there are younger women that like older men".
Her parents stated that the singer pulled the then-17-year-old on stage back in 2015.
When asked how Kelly can still live in the Trump Tower, he replied that Kelly "has some money".
"If you get someone who is ranting and raving, I would never let that kind of person ever do an interview", he said. Kelly has continued to vehemently deny all of these claims. During the sit-down, they both broke down in tears, with one vehemently blaming her parents for the narrative that is now surrounding the controversial star. "Forget the blogs, forget how you feel about me", Kelly said.
CBS also plans to air interviews with two women who are now living with Kelly, including one whose parents say she is being held against her will.
In another part of the interview, Kelly stands and yells, "I didn't do this stuff! R Kelly took me to a black room where unspeakable things happened.' This is what they're saying about you", King said in another point during the conversation.
Kelly has been associated with accusations of abuse, manipulation and inappropriate encounters with girls and young women for more than two decades.
