Rick Sanchez reports on the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange upon his expulsion from the Ecuadorean embassy where he'd been granted asylum pending possible extradition to the US.
According to the indictment, in March 2010, Assange conspired with former U.S. Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning to crack a password stored on U.S. Department of Defense computers connected to the Secret Internet Protocol Network (SIPRNet), a U.S. government network used for classified documents and communications.
Separately, the USA feared he conspired to hack a classified computer system with whistleblower Chelsea Manning.
In a Twitter post, WikiLeaks said Ecuador "illegally terminated Assange's political asylum in violation of worldwide law".
Full statement from the Metropolitan Police:"Julian Assange, 47, (03.07.71) has today, Thursday 11 April, been arrested by officers from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) at the Embassy of Ecuador, Hans Crescent, SW1 on a warrant issued by Westminster Magistrates' Court on 29 June 2012, for failing to surrender to the court. He will be getting the same treatment that any other Australian would get in those circumstances", Morrison said.
Kohli named Wisden's leading cricketer in the world
Sam Curran has become the youngest Englishman in a century to be named among Wisden's five Cricketers of the Year . Young Rashid Khan has been named the leading twenty- twenty player of the year for the second time as well.
Sweden is reportedly considering re-opening the sexual assault charges.
Mr. Assange has always insisted that the Swedish case was simply a cover for him to be handed over to US justice officials.
While official International Monetary Fund statements make no specific mentions of Assange, the clear link between the two is likely to continue to loom large, particularly in any United States attempts to secure extradition for Assange after having bought his expulsion and ultimate arrest by Britain.
Assange, with grey hair tied into a pony tail and sporting a long beard, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court where a judge accused him of behaving like a "narcissist" and advised him to "get over to the US" and "get on with your life". If convicted and extradited, Assange faces up to five years in prison.
Ms Ocasio-Cortez, known as AOC, said on Thursday there was a specific aspect of Mr Assange's arrest troubling her, Fox News reported. He's lived in a cramped room in the embassy and, even though Ecuador granted him citizenship, he couldn't leave the embassy without being arrested on the United Kingdom warrant.
