Something to look forward to: A dual-screen laptop isn't a completely new idea, but Asus may have perfected the design with its new ZenBook Pro Duo. Then, I had to move the window till it hovered over the Switch screen option and let go to send it to the other display.
There is a keyboard at the bottom of the deck, while the touchpad is to the right. It's a fairly hefty laptop at 2.5kg (about 5.5lbs), but that's to be expected given the gaming laptop-class internals.
ZenBook Pro Duo features a 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) OLED touchscreen for breathtaking visuals, a 4K (3840 x 1100) ScreenPad Plus and an ASUS NumberPad dual-function touchpad. Given those specs and features, you can expect the ZenBook Pro Duo to cost a fortune when it launches next quarter. It has the same horizontal resolution and width as the main screen (4K) but roughly half the depth, which makes the diagonal length really long.
An Asus spokesperson also hinted the price wouldn't be too extravagant - or at least maybe not quite as much as you might first think.
In addition to that, Asus has also revealed a new and exclusive ZenBook Edition 30 to celebrate 30 years of innovation at the company.
Asus has also added a dedicated RTX 2060 graphics card to the ZenBook Pro Duo. We're starting to see dual-screen concepts pop up, including Asus' own Project Precog from previous year as well as Lenovo's unnamed ThinkPad X1 foldable, and both are all-screen.
Fiat proposes merger with Renault in latest auto industry jolt
She said the companies have been discussing a merger for weeks but the French government was only informed last week. The merger is still subject to negotiation and to final review and approval by the FCA and Renault Boards.
Like the Precog, ZenBook Duo takes a few existing concepts to their next level. However, any Windows app can be used with ScreenPad Plus, with no need for a specific ScreenPad Plus-enabled version. It even has an onboard 2-inch LiveDash OLED screen that sits beneath the socket and another LiveDash OLED panel in the Smart Control Console, which also sports a 720p IR webcam and supports voice recognition.
The Zenbooks have sufficient ports for most road warriors as it comes with 1x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, 1x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A port, 1x USB 2.0, 1x standard HDMI port and a headphone jack.
"The latest Intel Wi-Fi 6 with Gig+ (802.11ax) takes wireless speeds to the next level, for supersmooth connections to the world".
The Zenbook Duo is lighter and smaller than the Pro model, sporting a 14-inch display with a lower, Full HD resolution.
The 14-inch Duo isn't as stacked as it larger brother, but its still got formidable specs, including an Intel Core i7 processor with up to 16GB of RAM, either two or four PCIe SSDs and a Nvidia GeForce MX 250 GPU with 2GB of VRAM.
Some of the upcoming monitors and units were announced by Nvidia earlier in the day-ASUS would be one of two manufacturers venturing into mini LED screens, with the ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQX.
