Elizabeth Warren, who along with Sanders is closest to front-runner former Vice President Joe Biden in polling, said she's with Sanders in wanting to end private insurance.
Harris has backed Sanders' Medicare-For-All bill, which would largely eliminate private insurance and shift all Americans into a government-run healthcare plan that Republicans have criticized as too costly. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio led the charge for scrapping private insurance in favor of "Medicare for All" - a proposal that would let all Americans join the government-sponsored program now reserved for the elderly and a few select groups. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., are co-sponsors of Sanders' Medicare for All bill in the Senate, Gillibrand did not, saying the quickest way to get to universal healthcare is to let people "buy in" to the Medicare program.
Debate night No. 2 marks the first time top-tier presidential candidates will confront one another in person over who is best fit to lead the Democratic effort to oust President Donald Trump in 2020. "That means boldly transforming our dysfunctional system by ending the use of private health insurance" Sanders wrote.
Kamala Harris has had trouble with the question of whether she would retain a role for private insurance in a "Medicare for All" system.
"By the way, Medicare today is the most popular health insurance program in the country, private health insurance is not particularly popular", Sanders said. "Yes, I'm with Bernie on Medicare for All", she said.
But four months later Harris told Tapper she never meant to suggest all private health insurance should be abolished in the U.S. More than 250 million Americans have a private health insurance plan that they like and want to keep.
Kemba Walker Reportedly Set To Join Boston Celtics
He averaged a career-high 25.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game last season along with 5.9 assists while playing in all 82 games. While the Celtics can meet with Walker as soon as June 30, nothing is a sure thing until a contract can be signed on July 6 .
There were a few candidates, however, who weren't so willing to board the party's express train to the far left on health care.
At some level of the first night of the controversy in Miami, moderator Lester Holt asked, "Many folks searching at at house contain neatly being insurance coverage coverage thru their employer". In her vision, coverage would be expanded to include dental and vision care.
Taking part in the second night of the debate, Biden said that the fastest way to ensure that all Americans had access to healthcare is "to build on what we did". "I'd accept tacos in the meantime", Harris's communication director, Chris Harris, tweeted in response to the criticism.
"I think that's kind of ageism to tell you the truth", Sanders, who is 77, responded when a journalist asked about the "generational argument being made by one of your younger rivals". We're going to do it again now. In January, during a CNN town hall, she voiced support for a single-payer system. She's been very clear. "And it formulation guaranteeing neatly being care to all and sundry thru Medicare with out a premiums, no deductibles and no copays".
In April she said that her plan "doesn't get rid of supplemental insurance".
