The US National Hurricane Center said that late Wednesday, the storm was centred about 445 miles (715 kilometres) north-northeast of San Juan and it was moving north-northeast at 15 mph (24 kph). As the map shows, Ireland and Britain are directly in the line of the latest predicted path of the hurricane.
"Regardless of Lorenzo's exact track near the Azores, strong winds are becoming increasingly likely on those islands Tuesday night and Wednesday and residents there should monitor the progress of the hurricane", the NHC warned.
"As of 11am AST/EDT the centre of Hurricane Lorenzo was located over the central Atlantic Ocean about 1,500 miles (2,415km) southwest of the Azores".
Karen weakened Wednesday afternoon and the National Hurricane Center sharply lowered its estimates of the storm's likely top winds over the next few days, reducing its projections from 65 to 45 miles per hour.

The Hurricane Center said Narda was expected to produce 5 to 10 inches (12.5 to 25 centimeters) of rainfall along the coast from Oaxaca to Nayarit-a stretch that includes Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta.
September is the peak month for hurricane and tropical storm activity in both the Atlantic and Pacific, according to NOAA.
Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories were still in effect for parts of the northern Rockies, Cascades and Sierra early Sunday morning. The hurricane center has ceased advisories on Karen.
