Tropical Storm Jerry strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane Thursday morning and is expected to pass north of Puerto Rico on Saturday and east of the Bahamas on Sunday, before taking aim at an already storm-sacked Bermuda early next week.
Haircut and manager memes are making the rounds on Twitter as Tropical Storm Karen dumps rain on the southern Windward Islands.
"In September, ocean temperatures are almost at their yearly peak, and shearing winds that can rip apart tropical storms and hurricanes are typically at their lowest", the Weather Channel reported. The storm is zipping off to the northeast but will slow and trend more north on Friday, allowing it to pump out more swell before exiting this weekend. "They are forming like roaches out there!" said Erin Blake, a scientist with the National Hurricane Center.
The Miami-based National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on three Tropical Storms whirling at the same time in the Eastern North Pacific. The tropical storm force winds will be felt first on St. Croix at approximately 7 a.m. Tuesday, spreading to St. Thomas at 1 p.m. and St. John at 4 p.m.
Wednesday was a record-setting day for tropical storms, according to the National Hurricane Center and The Weather Channel.

Only 21 hurricanes have passed within 100 miles of the Atlantic Ocean paradise over the past century, with Hurricane Gonzalo in 2014 being the last to make landfall there. While those islands lie in Karen's projected path for landfall on Tuesday, little change in the storm's strength was forecast for the next 48 hours, the NHC said.
Jerry, which became a hurricane Thursday, is the 10th named storm and the fourth recognized hurricane of 2019 Atlantic season.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Karen has formed in the Atlantic and could impact Puerto Rico on Tuesday as new Tropical Strom Warnings have been issued in the Caribbean. Up to 6 inches of rain could fall in some areas.
Data from the air force reserve and NOAA hurricane hunter aircraft indicate that the maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 85 miles per hour (140 km/h) with higher gusts. Elsewhere, interests in the Leeward Islands should monitor the progress of Karen.
Forecasters said the storm could bring 5 to 10 inches (12.5 to 25 centimeters) of rain to parts of the region and Mexican officials voiced concern that some parts of southern Mexico, which have seen a lack of rainfall, could suffer unsafe flash floods and landslides unleashed by torrential rain. Gusty winds and showers are possible on the island, though the blow should be less than that of Hurricane Humberto just seven days prior.
