The Cabinet also banned production, export, import and distribution of e-cigarettes.
In the draft ordinance, the health ministry proposed a maximum imprisonment of up to one year along with a penalty of Rs 1 lakh against first time violators. For a subsequent offense, the punishment will be imprisonment of up to three years and a fine of up to 500,000 rupees ($6,945).
