The son of former United States vice president Joe Biden has defended his work in Ukraine and China after sustained criticism from President Donald Trump which has embroiled the White House in an impeachment inquiry.
Trump's call to the president of Ukraine last July asking him to look into the Bidens' dealings in Ukraine has become the focus of the House of Representatives' impeachment inquiry.
Trump, however, has pushed an unproven accusation that then-Vice President Biden improperly tried to help his son by pressuring the Ukrainian government to fire the country's prosecutor general.
Hunter Biden also acknowledged that he likely would not have been named to the board of a foreign company if his last name weren't Biden. Hunter Biden has been silent for weeks now concerning his board position at Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company, but that all changed this morning.
During the debate, Joe Biden said "my son's statement speaks for itself".
In defense: "I gave a hook to some very unethical people to act in illegal ways to try to do some harm to my father", says Biden, 49. "I made a mistake in retrospect as it related to creating any perception that that was wrong". During the call, Trump suggested that Zelensky reopen the corruption probe into Burisma.
Ingraham said the Biden scandal is a reminder why voters chose to vote for President Trump. "I did nothing wrong", Biden said at the debate, which was hosted by CNN and the New York Times from at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio.
Trudeau asks Canadians to give Liberals a clear majority
The decision to go ahead with Saturday's rally was taken with the advice from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Trudeau said. Prepared remarks had indicated that Trudeau's wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, was to introduce the Liberal leader.
The US President himself faces allegations that he pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky into investigating the Bidens' in a phone call over the summer, which form the basis of the impeachment inquiry recently filed against him by the Democrats.
"And I can tell you now, if I am your president, the next president, I'm going to build on the squeaky-clean, transparent environment that we had in the Obama-Biden White House", he said.
In a statement posted on Medium and first reported by Bloomberg News, Biden's lawyer George Mesires, wrote that Biden's business dealings in China and Ukraine have become a major talking point for President Donald Trump and his top associates ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
Two others who missed the September debate but qualified for OH are congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and billionaire activist Tom Steyer, who has sought Mr Trump's impeachment for two years.
Ukraine: "I joined a board, I served honorably".
That phone call led to a whistleblower complaint that in part alleges Trump withheld USA aid to Ukraine over the matter. There's often been reason to wonder if the entire Trump presidency has been, at its core, an advertisement for Donald Trump's family business. No one has indicated I have.
The President, Biden added Tuesday night, is "flat lying" because he doesn't want the competition. He says his only regret is making his father vulnerable to attacks from Rudy Giuliani and President Trump.
