Making his intent clear and hinting at an alliance of BJP and NCP in Maharashtra, new Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday said that both parties will provide a stable government in the state.
NCP leader Dilip Walse Patil also met Ajit Pawar at the latter's residence.
The BJP and Ajit Pawar are running away from a floor test as the Congress-NCP-Shiv Sena combine has the majority, Surjewala claimed.
Appearing for the BJP MLAs and independent candidates, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi told the court that this plea should have been filed in Bombay High Court and that the decisions of the Governor are not amenable to judicial review.
Speaking to ANI ahead of the Supreme Court's hearing on a joint plea of Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress against the decision of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, inviting BJP's Devendra Fadnavis to form the government in the state, Athawale said, "They have a right to go to Supreme Court".
Following the meeting, BJP leader Ashish Shelar stated that leaders outlined a plan to pass the majority test in the 288 member Assembly. If BJP has the majority, let them prove in the Assembly. "Appropriate orders to be passed on Monday", the Supreme Court ruled. While Ajit Pawar claimed that he has the support of few other NCP MLAs, all of them believed to be with him was present at the party meet with Sharad Pawar on Sunday evening. "For Maharashtra's benefit Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar joined hands and took the oath", he said.

The BJP had won 105 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, results of which were announced on October 24.
