The quarterback has been put on injured reserve due to his ongoing foot injury which will cause him to miss the remainder of the regular season. Allen will be an exclusive rights free agent after this year, which means the Panthers can sign him back for $585,000 for the 2020 season, and they control his contractual rights through 2022. "But as I tell you guys every week, you can get caught up in the hype and really what it comes down to is the simple stuff and execution is real important". Newton has struggled in recent years, but if he comes back next season healthy, the sky is still the limit to him as an National Football League quarterback.
"Just so everyone understands, that question will not be addressed until it's time to address (it)".
However, Newton - the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2011 - had lost eight consecutive games dating back to the 2018 season.
However he has been troubled by shoulder and foot issues since then which have impacted his form for the Panthers.
It's clear that these two have a ton of respect for one another especially with Newton offering Allen the blueprint to success.
Dutch airport emergency 'accidental'
The authorities said they were investigating a situation on a plane. "We keep you posted", the airport said on social media. A so-called GRIP 3 was also declared, which typically means that an incident could affect a large group of people.
Either way, nice gesture by Allen, and the Panthers were made better by having Newton as their franchise quarterback.
Newton's teammates echoed Allen's sentiment that while they're sad to see him out the rest of the year, they understand the reasoning behind it.
"I like to play devil's advocate for y'all". We've known kind of the whole time what's been going on. To hear it happen finally (the decision to place Newton on IR), you're like, you know, you're kinda glad because you want (Newton) to heal. However, things may get interesting in the offseason as far as Newton's situation goes.
Though Rivera didn't delve into any more than that, this information confirms reports that Newton will be out at least a couple more weeks, if not the rest of the season. Now he will have extensive time to recover.
