Jonjelyn Savage, Joycelyn's mother, spoke to ABC's Good Morning America on Sunday about why she thinks her daughter was able to speak out after years of silence and defending R. Kelly.
Joycelyn Savage, one of R. Kelly's girlfriends who claimed for years that she was not a victim of the singer's dominant and abusive manners, changed her narration over the weekend last when she shared the first chapter of her story.
In late 2016, she discovered she was pregnant "by this monster".
"Eventually, I ended up getting an abortion I was forced to get the surgery done at his house", Savage wrote.
"Things I am going to reveal that was sweared not to see the day of light-by NDA", the promo video reads, set to Lizzo's hit song "Truth Hurts".
"Robert would always look at me in a sexual way the first couple of times we met occasionally", she wrote. Sometimes I was told what to say on the phone to them. Savage said in the past that she lived with Kelly willingly and that her estranged parents' claims that he had brainwashed her are false.
In a tweet, the singer's defense attorney, Steve Greenberg, responded to Savage's post, saying she is "exploiting her long time, loving relationship with Robert ..."
The singer of "I Believe I Can Fly" would supervise every detail of Savage's life, which includes not allowing her to use feminine hygiene products and having an assistant standing by the bathroom door when showering.

Last week she had the stomach bug, but more importantly, she has been treated for cancer twice in the previous year . Her hospitalization comes three months after it was revealed that she had been treated for pancreatic cancer .
Savage hasn't spoken to her family in several years, and her parents have been outspoken about their concerns for her well-being. The singer made her have the procedure in his home and it was against her will.
When police went to Kelly's Chicago apartment in January to check on Savage and Azriel Clary, Kelly's other live-in girlfriend, officers reported back that the women told them they were fine and staying there voluntarily.
She also talked about being "peed" on by R. Kelly "numerous times and also talked about allegedly being used as a "punching bag".
The aspiring singer, now 24, posted a series of images on Instagram promoting her side of the story. So, I'm praying to God that this is not what I think it is: somebody just trying to get a check off of my sister's situation.
Until recently, Savage was one of Kelly's defenders, speaking out on his behalf in Gayle King's interview with the singer earlier this year and appearing in the courtroom when he was arraigned in NY in August.
Once, when Savage called Kelly "Baby" instead of her favorite "Teacher" or "Daddy", he drowned her until she passed out, she alleged.
As previously reported, Kelly is now facing multiple charges of child porn and sex-trafficking. In one video, Savage's father, Timothy Savage, appears to threaten Kelly, holding a baseball bat and saying "You know what time it is".
