The virus originated in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in Hubei late a year ago and has spread to Chinese cities including Beijing.

Outside of China, there are now eight confirmed cases in Thailand (five of which have been discharged from hospital); five in the USA; four each in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, France, South Korea and Japan (one cured); two in Vietnam; and one each in Nepal and Canada.
Per the latest update, the novel virus has killed almost 80 people in China so far and has infected at least 2,750 globally. After Chinese President Xi Jinping called the situation "grave", Wuhan authorities suspended visa and passport services for Chinese citizens until January 30.
The death toll in China has mounted to 80 with 2,744 confirmed cases.
By the end of Sunday, 51 people had recovered and there were now a total of 5,794 suspected cases. "As of now, we understand that no Indian citizens have been affected by the outbreak and that food and water supplies are available to them", Kumar tweeted.
"Currently, the outbreak has not yet had a visible impact on the economy", Finance Minister Hong Nam-ki said during a meeting of senior policymakers.
