Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday called on New Yorkers to "kick coronavirus' ass" as the state braces for the anticipated "apex" of the crisis in three weeks. "And it's earmarked only for COVID virus expenses, which means it does absolutely nothing for us in terms of lost revenue to the state", Cuomo said. Tens of thousands of ventilator s could be needed, he said.
The governor also said that there has been a massive influx of volunteers to work on medical staffs and as mental health providers.
The situation remains serious and NY continues to lead the nation in total cases by far, Cuomo said.
During Thursday's press briefing, Cuomo said the goal is still to flatten the curve as much as possible, but at this point, there's no way to get it low enough so that hospitals will have the ability to respond properly. Cuomo continued with a plea to the federal government and America alike for medical supplies to be immediately sent to NY: "I'm asking you to help NY to help yourselves". "I will personally guarantee it", Cuomo said. "And have more of a rolling deployment across the country than a static deployment - rolling deployment could work here". He stated that any scenario is likely to overwhelm the healthcare system in NY.

"That is why we are literally adding to the hospital capacity every way we can".
The peak of the virus is expected to hit the U.S. in about two or three weeks.
"Right now, and for the foreseeable future, we have a supply".

But landlords are restricted from entering people's homes, unless there is a significant threat to people or property. As of the latest numbers released March 25, there are a total of 659 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in B.C.
"Young people then quarantined with old people was probably not the best public health strategy, ' he said".
Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said warmer weather may help tamp down the U.S. outbreak as summer approaches, though the virus could re-emerge in the winter.
"New York City only gets $1.3 billion from this package - that is a drop in the bucket as to need", Cuomo said.
New York City schools are closed through April 20, though officials say the city closure could last the rest of the school year. The state is already facing an estimated $15 billion budget deficit, some of it due to a drop in the stock market.
Two people who helped keep NY moving during the crisis, bus operator Oliver Cyrus, 61, and train conductor Peter Petrassi, 49, were killed by the virus Thursday, according to their union.

"This was the time [for Congress] to put politics aside", Cuomo said.
He described street closures in New York City, where more than eight million people live, as a pilot program and said sports would be banned in city parks first on a voluntary basis as long as people comply.
