Senior US scientist Dr Anthony Fauci issued a cautious prediction Sunday that the novel coronavirus could claim as many as 200,000 lives in the United States, as state and local officials described increasingly desperate shortages in hard-pressed hospitals.
Dr. Anthony Fauci says there could potentially be between 100,000 to 200,000 deaths related to the coronavirus and millions of cases.
'We're going to have all these mini outbreaks throughout our country, ' he said.
After host Jake Tapper asked how many COVID-19 cases the USA will see, Fauci spoke of models and the reliability of worse and best-case scenarios they provide. As the Director of the Nationwide Institute of Allergy and Infectious Illnesses, Dr. Fauci has warned towards lifting social restrictions.
