Donovan Mitchell doesn't appear to be on board with trying to talk things out with Rudy Gobert and reportedly remains "reluctant" to fix his relationship with Rudy Gobert because of the center's actions before his coronavirus diagnosis.
"I was careless and make no excuse", Gobert said on Instagram.
Mitchell is clearly still shaken by his own experience of the lack of symptoms that led Gobert to unwittingly spread the virus. "I'm glad he's doing well, I'm glad I'm doing well".
"It doesn't appear salvageable", the source told the publication.
No one knows how this issue between Utah's two All-Stars will end, but if, in the absolute worst-case scenario, the Jazz end up having to choose between the two players, things could get dicey.
Mitchell also seemed upset with Gobert in an interview he did with "Good morning america".
U.S. coronavirus deaths surpass 20,000
Globally, there have been more than 1.6 million confirmed cases, with the death toll surpassing 106,000. Andrew Cuomo said the daily number of deaths is stabilizing "but stabilizing at a horrific rate".
The report also notes that "there is no way of knowing if Gobert gave it to Mitchell or if it was the other way around or some other factor".
"I read what he said and I heard what he said", Mitchell guardedly responded when asked by ABC for his feelings about Gobert, adding with relief: "I'm glad he's doing OK".
Here's the full report, courtesy of The Athletic: "Considering all the efforts the Jazz had taken to educate their players on the matter and to ensure their safety, it's not hard to see why there would be frustration with anyone who was still downplaying the disease". That's something the team tried to make clear to Mitchell, according to sources.
"I'm confident our team is going to be totally fine". But I have no doubt when we go back to training, or when our season starts again, our team is going to be what we have been and what we are.
Since the 2019-20 regular season was suspended in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic all over the US, there has been no clear schedule for when it will restart.
Gobert offered a public apology for his behavior a day after testing positive and while Mitchell acknowledged it at the time, it appears that he isn't over it.
