Since the coronavirus pandemic started two months ago, nearly 1.5 million people got infected, while approximately 85 thousand already died. We're keeping the president healthy. "I believe they should", & rdquo; Trump informed press reporters at the White House, echoing remarks he had actually made in a tv interview. "Maybe that's a question you should ask China", answered Trump.
Trump added: "This is a disease that attacks age and it attacks health and if you have a heart problem, if you have diabetes, if you're a certain age, it's certainly much more risky". His explanation on this stance is the following: "Because this is a disease that attacks age, and it attacks health".
"But with the young children, I mean, and students, it's really - just take a look at the statistics".
While the country is split over Mr Trump's focus on protecting livelihoods, critics accuse him of gambling with lives to serve his own political interests ahead of November's re-election bid.
So far, there are at least 1,388,936 cases of coronavirus in the United States and at least 83,791 people have died from the virus according to a tally by the Johns Hopkins University.
