Taylor Swift fans are searching for answers about her relationship with Joe Alwyn in the lyrics for her eighth studio album, Folklore.
Among thousands of people who took to social media to write about Taylor's album was fellow singer Halsey.
Today in unneccesary internet beef, Smashmouth (yep, the dudes who brought you All Star) have thrown shade at Taylor Swift's new album folklore and hoo boy, it did not go well for them. Written and recorded in isolation with Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner of The National sharing production credits, folklore is an unexpected treat in the middle of a disrupted summer, one whose sepia-toned colour palette and muted production only adds to its magic. Much of Swift's catalog has been scrutinized by listeners looking for parallels between lyrical melodrama and real-life events - looking for clues in tossed off mentions of scarves and necklaces.
"My whole body froze", a third person tweeted. Folklore explores a more restrained type of Swiftian expression that's no less exciting than her massive pop singles. The bright-eyed-country-musician-turned-serious-pop-titan didn't need to-she could've quit music previous year and still left behind a lasting pop discography. On Folklore, Swift's eighth album, released this morning with less than a day's notice, the pop megastar recalibrates her field of vision once again, putting forward a collection of grand yarns and candid fables that zoom out to explore the odd, circular nature of time, the way love can wither and flower over a lifetime. On other tracks, she's telling the stories of others - doing it so well and vividly that you can paint the picture as the tracks play.

"One thing I did purposely on this album was put the Easter eggs in the lyrics, more than just the videos".
This means that folklore is her first album to fall under the alternative genre. Everything she had planned got cancelled.
"Before this year I probably would've overthought when to release this music at the "perfect" time", Swift wrote in her message announcing the album. I've told these stories to the best of my ability with all the love, wonder, and whimsy they deserve.
