Tropical Depression Hanna is expected to weaken enough to lose its tropical designation Monday but continue to present a threat in the form of heavy rain and potential flooding.
The storm crossed into Mexico and caused widespread flooding, officials said.
It was the first hurricane of the season in the Atlantic and had sustained winds of 90 miles per hour, making it a high-end Category 1 hurricane. Hurricane Hanna has formed in the Gulf of Mexico as a Category 1 hurricane with sustained winds of 75 miles per hour around the eye wall.
