The trade comes one day after the New York Daily News published a story detailing how Adams and the Jets' relationship had deteriorated over the past seven months, due to Adams' lack of trust with the franchise and the status of contract negotiations. "Two first rounders and a good player in McDougald is a heavy price to pay, but Adams is a ideal fit in the Pete Carroll defense and will take over the Earl Thomas role". Then, the Seahawks struck a deal with the Jets for disgruntled star Jamal Adams on Saturday, bolstering a secondary that has been looking for a stud safety since Earl Thomas' departure last offseason.
"Jamal Adams is the latest example of players in today's game getting around the rookie wage scale, and I love it".
That's not to say Adams isn't as valuable as Ramsey, but current contracts in the National Football League certainly show that teams prioritize corners more than they do safeties.
The saga died down when the Jets chose to not trade Adams and Adams said he was still excited to be a Jet. He vowed not to hold out this summer even if he doesn't get a new contract, but all bets are off in 2021.
The Jets have finally given in to Jamal Adams's demand. That's not a huge difference, of course, but it does factor into the compensation.
Republicans to continue Covid-19 relief talks as crucial benefit nears end
It is simply unacceptable that Republicans have had this entire time to reach consensus among themselves and continue to flail. Whether to extend unemployment benefits - and by how much - is a main sticking point among Republicans.
In John Schneider's 10 years as the Seattle Seahawks' general manager, he's spelled out his big-picture approach to roster building with an oft-repeated phrase. He's hoping to get more than $14.6 million a year in an extension.
Some compare Adams to a Kam Chancellor-type safety.
Bell signed a four-year, $52.5-million deal with the Jets in March 2019, joining a nucleus that Adams led. Ramsey is a three-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro, while Adams has made the Pro Bowl twice and been named a first-team All-Pro once. Last season Adams recorded 75 tackles, 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception, which he returned 61 yards for a touchdown.
The Seahawks had one of their worst seasons under Carroll on that side of the ball in 2019, continuing the decline from their LOB heyday. Adams has been to two Pro Bowls.
