Amid the months of "remote everything" in which people work, learn, and live at home in a bid to curb the spread of an ongoing coronavirus pandemic, tech giant Microsoft has announced several new features on its video conference software Teams that will make "virtual interactions more natural, more engaging, and ultimately, more human".
"These features offer three key benefits for people at work and in education". The idea is to make participants feel more like they're sitting together in the same room, Microsoft said. Second, they make meetings more inclusive and engaging. It felt a little gimmicky at very first, specifically as you can wave at co-workers, faucet them on the shoulder, or do virtual superior fives.
Microsoft is also bringing PowerPoint Live Presentations to Teams in the future, further enabling audience engagement right from Teams. If you want to host a webinar, where most people are just watching, the platform will also support up to 20,000 participants soon.
Microsoft plans to expand meeting capacity to 1,000 participants, who can all speak and appear on video. Together mode with auditorium view is now rolling out and will be generally available in August. General availability of the new features is slated for later this year. The view includes various enhancements including new controls such as viewing shared content and specific participants side-by-side and personalizing the view. At the time you get about the enjoyment or gimmicky elements of it, it essentially feels like a much much better way to take out visual distractions that you usually see in significant gallery views in meetings. The reply messages are generated by artificial intelligence, Microsoft explained. With the extension, check-in questions will be recommended, or users can create their own custom questions to place in a poll-like tool.

Though hard to get information, the young child said they had gone swimming but that her mom never got back in the boat. A search-and-rescue operation then started to find the " Sorry " singer, but she could not be found by Wednesday night.
Teams will allow users to use various filters to subtly adjust lighting levels and soften the focus of the camera to customise their appearance before joining a meeting. Live transcripts, coming later this year, provide another way to follow along with what has been said and who said it. After a meeting, transcripts will be automatically uploaded and saved in a tab as a part of the conference.
It is also adding chat bubbles. It's also launching smart displays running Cortana and Teams. This includes faster load times, sticky notes, text, and drag and drop capabilities. Not satisfied with the innovations it has made until today, Microsoft has brought another important innovation to Teams with an update it has released now.
In your next Microsoft Teams meeting, you may find everyone seated in the same auditorium, rather than small squares with different backgrounds. A Microsoft Teams Display device is a dedicated meetings device that can be controlled via Cortana voice commands, and it'll pair up with a PC.
Microsoft Teams displays with Cortana will be available in the United States later this year.
