In the new map, the status of Kashmir is changed from a disputed territory to "Indian illegally occupied" Jammu-Kashmir, awaiting final status to be decided by United Nations resolutions.
Following the August 5 move, Indian authorities enforced an information blackout and a harsh security clampdown in Kashmir for months.

The prime minster said the newly-launched map is backed by all political parties of the country which he said support the principled stance of the people of IIOJK.
All Kashmiris have categorically rejected the unconstitutional and unilateral measures taken by the Indian government on August 5 previous year, he added.
"The cabinet has approved the map", he said, adding that the Kashmiri and national leadership has also green-signalled it. "We believe that entire Kashmir region is disputed and it needs solution".
Qureshi claimed that the "Kashmiri leadership" has also endorsed the government's move.
Pakistani experts on Monday have renamed its significant Kashmir Highway as Srinagar Highway in government capital Islamabad to communicate solidarity with the individuals of involved Kashmir in front of Youm-e-Istehsal.
"Police in vehicles moved through our locality and from loudspeakers ordered us to stay indoors for two days - as if we were not already caged", said Imriyaz Ali, who lives in the Srinagar old town.
