James Murdoch resigns from News Corp, citing "disagreements" over editorial content

While tendering the resignation, Murdoch also cited differences over certain strategic decisions of the company.

James, who has publicly said there are "views I really disagree with on Fox", abandoned the company previous year.

The 47 year-old has recently been critical of his father's business and its media coverage.

James Murdoch, the former CEO of 21st Century Fox and the youngest son of Fox News founder Rupert Murdoch, has resigned from the board of the family's News Corp media empire, according to a Friday filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The resignation was effective Friday.

"We wish him the very best in his future endeavors", said Rupert Murdoch, executive chairman of News Corp and James's brother Lachlan Murdoch in a statement.

James Murdoch had been on the company's board since 2013.

Representatives of Mr Murdoch and his wife Kathryn have acknowledged the couple's "frustration" with coverage of the subject by some of most influential Murdoch-owned news brands, including Fox News.

Fox News is now housed under the Fox Corporation, a separate business entity from News Corp.

News Corp also owns a large chunk of Australia's media, including Foxtel, the Daily Telegraph and the Herald Sun.

Rupert Mudoch's younger son headed 21st Century Fox until a year ago when he left after Disney acquired most of the group's assets.
