"They're actually working with us to provide assets that can basically get down to take a look at the AAV (amphibious assault vehicle)". The amtrac sank in the Pacific Ocean near San Clemente Island, approximately 80 miles west of San Diego.
According to Osterman, the service members aboard the AAV were on their way back to a ship after completing a day of training on the island. Two others are in a critical condition.
Over the course of the at-sea search, Marine Corps, Navy, and Coast Guard helicopters, ships, and watercraft searched more than 1,000 square nautical miles.
It sank in several hundred feet of water, which the military said was too deep for regular divers to reach it.
Two of eight troops missing after their landing craft sank off the Southern California coast during a training exercise have been identified as OR men.
"I ask that you keep our Marines, Sailors, and their families in your prayers as we continue our search", Col. Christopher Bronzi, 15th MEU commanding officer, said in a statement.
As of Friday morning, eight of the service members had been found, one of whom was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, where he was pronounced dead.
The troopers were in combat gear, including body armor, but were also equipped with flotation devices. "Our heartfelt thoughts go out to the family members".

Out of an abundance of caution, the top general of the Marines has ordered a suspension of using AAVs until it's determine what sank the other craft. All of the troops ranged in age from 19 to early 30s.
"Our thoughts and prayers have been, and will continue to be with our Marines' and sailor's families during this hard time", said Bronzi.
The names of the Marines and sailor will be released 24 hours after the next of kin are notified.
The vehicles have been used since 1972, and continually refurbished.
