The Mountain West decision comes on a day rife with rumors about the future of the 2020 season.
The Mountain West Conference will be canceling all fall 2020 sports with the possibility of rescheduling the season in the spring. "While today's decision only affects Rainbow Warrior football at UH Mānoa, this is the same conclusion the Big West Conference reached for our other fall sports".
Locally, that means Air Force, Colorado State, Wyoming and Colorado College will all be affected by this decision.
The conference announced Monday the "indefinite postponement" of football, women's soccer, women's volleyball, and men's and women's cross country.
"The health and safety of our cadet-athletes, coaches, staff and community has been and will continue to be our top priority at the Academy, and was reflected in the Mountain West's hard decision to postpone fall sports", said Air Force Athletic Director Nathan Pine.
Coronavirus punishes Warren Buffett, as Berkshire Hathaway takes big writedown By Reuters
He's picking his spots: Bank of America is a longtime Berkshire investment and Buffett's firm is very active in the energy sector. And with a record $146.6bn of cash on hand at the end of June, Berkshire said the company could weather the pandemic's effects.
The Mountain West says that there are "ongoing discussions regarding the status of winter sports", including women's swimming & diving, which is sponsored by 10 of the 11 schools in the conference.
According to Pine, the Falcon football team will also still try to play Army & Navy, for the Commander-In-Chief trophy, if conditions allow.
Other signs include that Group of 5 conference The Sun Belt will follow the SEC's lead and hold athletics this fall.
