The unusual move is a sign of respect from the studio behind the Marvel movie that brought Boseman his greatest fame and pop culture impact. "A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you numerous films you have come to love so much", his family wrote on Twitter.
Host Keke Palmer introduced the show with a word about Boseman, calling him "an actor whose talent and passion is a true inspiration to all the fans he touched and everyone he encountered". His career highlights include roles of real-life icons Jackie Robinson in "42", James Brown in "Get on Up" and Thurgood Marshall in "Marshall".

A 2000 graduate of Howard, Boseman returned to Howard in 2018 to deliver that year's commencement speech, during which he described navigating the entertainment industry as a Black man. "All of the roles he played were not just movies, they were cultural experiences that affirm the depths and possibility of our humanity. We're going to feel his absence".
Following his diagnosis in 2016, Boseman went onto film numerous major movies including Avengers: Endgame, 21 Bridges, Da 5 Bloods, and Black Panther. No date has been set.
It is reported that Boseman was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer, which later developed to become Stage 4 colon cancer. He rose to global fame after starring as T'Challa in the groundbreaking 2018 film "Black Panther", becoming a beloved Black icon for fans, young and old.
Boseman was also referred to as the "next Denzel Washington", and this sentiment was not lost upon the iconic actor.
