France set a new record of daily COVID-19 infections on September 24, the fourth in eight days, while the number of people hospitalised for the disease went above 6,000 for the first time in more than two months.
1,141 deaths have been registered in the past 24 hours. 83% of these are from 10 States/UTs.
A senior officer in the ministry stated that a total 81,177 people were discharged from various hospitals and quarantine centres in the last 24 hours across the country. The state has recorded 14 cases and 8 more deaths on Friday, taking the state's toll to 781 and the national figure to 869.

The new cases bring the total number of schools with a reported case to 75 out of Ontario's 4,828 publicly-funded schools. Those with temperatures about 38 C will be asked to wait for 10 minutes in a designated waiting area for a re-test.
With this, the country total tally of Covid-19 cases has crossed the 58 lakh mark, according to Ministry of Health. In the last 72 hours, the state added 1,000 COVID-19 deaths even as new cases continue to soar. With the addition of 19,164 new patients, the number of people taking treatment stands at 2.74 lakh. The total cases in India are 58.18 lakh. The number of recovered patients has now overtaken the active cases by almost 5 times.
Recovered cases exceeded the 9,70,116 active cases by almost 38 lakh (37,86,048) on Friday. About 40 per cent of the new deaths reported on Thursday are from Maharashtra with 459 deaths followed by Punjab and Uttar Pradesh with 76 and 67 deaths, respectively.
