According to the court, Ginsburg died surrounded by her family at her home in Washington. In announcing her death Friday night, the Supreme Court said only that "a private interment service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery". Ginsburg has been serving on the court since 1993. In 1971, Ginsburg was instrumental in launching the Women's Rights Project of the American Civil Liberties Union. These include dissents in the voting rights decision of Shelby County v. Holder, the gender equity case of Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire Company Co., and the affirmative action case of Ricci v. Stefano. She was also known for her powerful dissents, many of which she delivered from the bench. She became hugely popular for her defense of the rights of women and minorities. She will always be forever notorious! Those issues included five cancer crises, beginning in 1999.

Trump is seeking a second four-year term and has been trailing Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in public opinion polls.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer reminded Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Friday of that fact. Since my Republican colleagues have also been adamant than a vacant Supreme Court seat should not be filled in a presidential election year, I look forward to the American people making their voices heard before a replacement is selected. Barrett has twice been honored as "Distinguished Professor of the Year" at Notre Dame, and had clerked for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
