Walmart on Tuesday officially unveiled Walmart+, its new $98/year membership program that competes with Amazon's $119/year Prime membership. The program, previously called Delivery Unlimited and focused on groceries, will be renamed Walmart Plus and add many items you'd find in a Walmart store, including toys, electronics and household essentials like cleaners and toothpaste.
It will cost $98 a year, or $12.95 a month, including a 15-day free trial. Walmart+ gives members in-store prices and free delivery as fast as the same day on over 160,000 items. Members of this service will automatically become Walmart Plus members.
"We are a company committed to meeting our customers' needs", said Janey Whiteside, chief customer officer, Walmart.
While Walmart is expected to account for 6% of all online sales in the United States this year, Amazon is forecast to take 38%, The Associated Press reported. "We've designed this program as the ultimate life hack for them". "Walmart Plus will bring together a comprehensive set of benefits where we see the greatest needs from our customers and where our scale can bring solutions at an unprecedented value".

In a subsequent protest, two demonstrators were shot and killed and a third wounded; a 17-year-old has been charged with homicide .
The big selling point of this is to expand free, fast and cheap deliveries to the parts of the USA that Amazon has yet to reach. Orders must be at least $35, the same minimum as with Delivery Unlimited.
Walmart+ benefits will be available on top of the retailers' standard offerings such as free curbside pickup, and both next-day and two-day delivery, the company said.
Members will get a discount of up to 5 cents a gallon at Murphy gas stations or at the 2,000 Walmart locations that have gas pumps.
In-store shoppers will have access to a "Scan & Go" feature that lets them scan items with their phones and pay for them using Walmart Pay, allowing them to avoid the checkout line. Walmart says that Sam's Club will soon join the. you know, club.
