Oculus Quest 2 has leaked, revealing a new look, higher-quality display, 6GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and more. The second edition of the Oculus Quest has now leaked and looking at the specifications, it is clear that Facebook is serious about making serious strides into the world of VR.
Last year, Facebook untethered virtual reality fans from their computers with the standalone Oculus Quest, one of the best ways to experience VR. Two promotional videos were accidentally uploaded, resulting in the earlier-than-expected reveal of the revision of the headset.
The Oculus Quest 2 will play games from the original Oculus Quest according to the leak, but we don't have full details on games on the Oculus Quest 2 at this time. The controllers have also been upgraded with optimized ergonomics.
We should get more details on Wednesday the 16th of September - Facebook's intended launch date. However, this is not a mark against the Oculus Quest, as an expensive price tag is simply the norm for VR related headsets. In the video, it says that the Quest 2 has an "almost 4K display". Coming in a white colour scheme, the headset features a new display with over 50% higher pixel density than Quest and nearly 2K resolution per eye. With the Quest having a 72Hz refresh rate, pushing that to 120Hz will be a game-changing improvement.
Notably, all video games available for Oculus Quest will work on the next model. However, previous reports indicate an introductory price of $299.
The videos outline the VR headsets' specs. But future Facebook headsets will need a Facebook login even if you already have a separate Oculus account.
