PNC Arena is scheduled to be home to the first and second rounds of the Division I men's tournament in 2021 on March 19 and 21.
The decision means Hayward will play host to the NCAA meet for at least six of the next seven years.
The NCAA's announcement was made as part of the unveiling of championship sites for the cycle from the 2022-23 through 2025-26 academic years.
Other host sites for the opening rounds of the 2025 tournament are Cleveland; Denver; Milwaukee; Seattle; Raleigh, North Carolina; Providence, Rhode Island; and Lexington, Kentucky.

In addition, the NCAA announced Pitt will serve as host for the 2023 women's gymnastics regionals at Petersen Events Center. The 2026 NCAA men's and women's swimming and diving championships will be conducted at the McAuley Aquatics Center on the Georgia Tech campus for the third time. In all, Atlanta has hosted 24 NCAA basketball events, including the Men's Final Four in 1977, 2002, 2007 and 2013, and the Women's Final Four in 1993 and 2003. Classic Park in Eastlake will host the Division III Men's Baseball Championships from 2024-2026.
Las Vegas will host an NCAA tournament men's basketball regional for the first time in 2023 after the NCAA changed its policy that prevented states with sports wagering from hosting championships. Arkansas previously was announced as a host for a regional there in 2022. Pegula Ice Arena, however, will be used for the 2026 women's hockey semifinals and final, also known as the Frozen Four.
The NCAA Division I wrestling tournament is also returning to relatively nearby venues.
