In a television interview with 60 Minutes, he said he does not, nor ever will publicly endorse any political candidate. "I was anxious that he was going to get sick when I saw him in a completely precarious situation of crowded, no separation between people, and nearly nobody wearing a mask", Fauci said.

The president noted that despite Fauci's complaint that his television appearances were restricted by the White House, he was always making headlines.
Despite their differences, recently departed senior White House officials told the Washington Examiner last week that they believed Fauci would likely retain his post past Election Day.
