Joe Biden Sweeps Dixville Notch; Last Candidate to Do So Lost Presidency

Most polling stations on the East Coast will open at 6am or 7am (11am or 12pm GMT) on Tuesday.

Hillary Clinton won Dixville Notch in 2016, and went on to win New Hampshire's four Electoral College votes.

The much-awaited election day kicked off in the United States on Tuesday with the first ballots cast in Dixville Notch and Millsfield, towns in the northeastern state of New Hampshire.

But Dixville Notch voters don't really have to worry about lines - there were only 12 residents in the township as of the 2010 census.

Dixville Notch residents have cast the first ballot of election day for the last 60 years.

"I don't agree with him on many things, but I think it's time to find out what unites us, not what divides us", he explained in a message published on the village's social network Twitter.

In Millsfield, 20 kilometres to the south, Trump won 16 votes to Biden's five.

According to the RealClearPolitics polling average, Biden is leading Trump by 6.7 percentage points nationally, but only by 2.8 percentage points in top battleground states, including Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Arizona.

While many early votes are believed to have been cast by Democrats - encouraged by Biden to take advantage of the opportunity - Trump's campaign is hoping for a massive wave of Republican supporters voting in person on Tuesday.

However, this year, Hart's Location opted to discontinue the tradition due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Americans are voting for president, of course, but also are out in force to elect their members of Congress and other representatives in state and local races as well.

-Canada border. It is among the first places in the country to announce Election Day results.
