President Donald Trump railed against the Paris climate accord on Sunday, telling world leaders at a virtual summit that the agreement was created to cripple the US economy, not save the planet.
When the summit started, Trump was among the almost two dozen world leaders beaming in from the White House situation room, CNN reported.
But at 8 a.m. ET, 13 minutes after the opening time, Trump was sending a tweet focusing on attempts to overturn the results of the United States presidential election.
Several outlets, including The New York Times and The Guardian, reported that Trump briefly participated Saturday before taking the motorcade out to his Sterling, Virginia property.
He avoided a one-party program entitled "Epidemic Preparedness and Response", in which speakers included German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron.
However, according to CBS News' White House correspondent Mark Knoller, Trump has played golf 298 times during his presidency.
The countries participating in the G20 summit make up around 80 percent of the world's economic output, two-thirds of the global population and three-quarters of worldwide trade, according to the official website. But on Friday evening, the White House released a schedule confirming his participation.

Russia's Sputnik V vaccine on Nov 11 was also shown to be more than 90% effective, though only based on 20 infections. The pair said that regimen n=8,895 showed 62% efficacy when given as two full doses at least one month apart.
Mr. Trump's influence on the world stage is low after losing the election.
There are no high expectations for the G20 this year, despite the outbreak that will call for global efforts to control the virus.
Ever since Biden was declared the victor of the November 7 election, leaders around the world, including Micron, have congratulated Biden; The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson; And while Canadian President Justin Trudeau has acknowledged his victory, Trump has refused. This is partly due to the lack of U.S. leadership, but other world leaders have also struggled to mobilize their counterparts as a joint effort to combat Govt-19.
Due to the pandemic, this year's summit was held online. He left early for a G7 meeting in Canada and canceled his signature on its final statement.
