"And those aren't the only people that have been fired or left", Jones said. He said agents executed a search warrant at Jones' home after investigators determined that the unauthorized message was sent from an IP address associated with her family internet account. "Any evidence will be referred to the State Attorney for prosecution as appropriate". "If [DeSantis] didn't learn the first time he tried to defame and threaten me that it didn't work, he's about to learn it now".
Jones told Cuomo that she has no reason to reach out to former colleagues at the DOH, saying, "I, better than anyone, know that people at DOH aren't going to [come forward]".
"Shamarial Roberson, Deputy Secretary [for] Health, asked me to manipulate the data to mislead the public to support reopening mostly rural counties after the preliminary plan was already drafted and about to be presented", Jones said in the statement to the newspaper. "We are concerned that these actions may be retaliation in response to her whistleblower claim against the Department of Health and her criticism of the Governor's COVID 19 response". The state health department also referred questions to state police.
Swearingen also says Jones initially refused to answer her door and hung up on agents who called her about the pending search. They took evidence of corruption at the state level. "He sent the gestapo". She accused state officials of asking her to manipulate COVID-19 data, but the governor disputed the claim and described it as a "conspiracy bandwagon".
After she was sacked, Ms Jones created her own Covid-19 dashboard that included more details - like hospital capacity - than the state itself was at times providing. Anyone can view and download her current and cumulative charts for free.
Rebekah Jones Twitter
Jones was sacked in May from her position managing the Florida Department of Health's COVID-19 data portal after she said she had been asked to manually alter data to support DeSantis' efforts to reopen the state's economy during the early days of the pandemic.
Ms Jones, in a Twitter post, said her phone "and all my hardware and tech" were confiscated.
Jones calls the raid on her home an act of retaliation for her persistent criticisms of how Florida has handled the pandemic.
FDLE confirmed in an emailed statement that a warrant was served at Jones' Tallahassee home.
When she did open the door, a camera set up inside Jones's home filmed the agents as they entered. Agricultural Commissioner Nikki Fried, who is expected to run against DeSantis in 2022, wanted Jones to appear at a Cabinet meeting in May and spoke with Jones ahead of another Cabinet meeting in September about the governor's handling of the pandemic. Neither Jones' husband nor the couples' children are seen in the footage.
A spokesperson for DeSantis said "the governor's office had no involvement, no knowledge, no nothing, of this investigation". He offered to provide a fuller explanation to the judge privately.
