India skipper Virat Kohli and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin have been nominated for the ICC Player of the Decade Award. And also Virat Kohli was successful in making place in all three teams of ICC. With the end of 2020 set to mark the end of yet another decade, the ICC has announced rewards by acknowledging them as the best performer during that period.
Meanwhile, the ICC Test team of the decade also includes New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson and Australian batsman Steve Smith.
Ellyse Perry has swept the women's awards handed out by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the best players of the decade.
The teams of the decades were announced by the ICC ahead of the Awards of the Decade ceremony, to be held in virtual mode on Monday.
In the last decade, Smith has scored 7,040 runs in 69 tests at an average of 65.79 with 26 centuries, but he was stripped of the captaincy after the cheating scandal in the Cape Town test on Australia's tour to South Africa in 2018.
"My only intention was to make winning contributions for the team and I just strive to do that in every game".
A multi-talented person, Ellyse Perry had a career in professional soccer also but later on, she chose to be a cricketer albeit she went to represent the Australia women's team in the World Cup football.
Four Indian cricketers have been featured in the T20 side including Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, MS Dhoni, and Rohit Sharma. Other than being a prolific run-scorer for India across all three formats, Kohli had played a pivotal role in India winning the 2011 World Cup in India and the 2013 Champions Trophy in England. "Stats just become the byproduct of what you want to do on the field", Kohli said after winning the award.
