Authorities say Reffitt is a member of the Three Percenters, a far-right extremist militia, and that he travelled from the Dallas area to D.C. with a firearm and a Go-Pro camera to be part of the events of January 6.
He faces an obstrcution of justice charge for participating in the Capitol riot, which left five people dead, including a Capitol Police officer.
According to an affidavit obtained by Dallas News, Guy Reffitt, 48, told his family that he went to Washington, DC, to "to protect the country, ' that he brought a gun with him, and that he 'stormed the Capitol".

Eimiller did not say if the raid was tied to a nationwide effort to find the people who took part in the riot at the Capitol, The Register reported. He said, "Our posture is aggressive, and it's going to stay that way through the inauguration". Also, the data from his cell phone also confirmed his presence at the Capitol when a mob rioted, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said. "The crowd did not comply, and instead responded by shouting and cursing at the Capitol Police Officers".
The day after the attack, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi called for the resignation of Steven Sund, chief of the Capitol Police.
