COVID-19 vaccine supply expected to surge in Canada

The latest numbers on COVID-19 vaccinations in Canada as of 4 a.m. ET on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021.
Newfoundland is reporting 1,975 new vaccinations administered over the past seven days for a total of 3,760 doses given.
The New York Times first reported news of the death of Gregory Michael, a 56-year-old obstetrician and gynecologist located in Miami Beach. "To get 30 million Canadians vaccinated there is going to have to be a need for much more infrastructure to do it", said Zain Chagla Assoc. Prof., Dept. of Medicine, Mac and Infectious Disease Physician.
People are asked to participate even if they think they haven't been exposed to COVID-19.
Alberta announced a new record daily high of 38 deaths due to COVID-19, along with 652 new cases.
Ontario says that almost 11,500 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine were administered since its last daily update.

To date, Quebec has vaccinated 99,510 health-care workers and residents of long-term care centres, representing more than 1.1 per cent of the population. According to the website this represents 0.8 per cent of the population having received at least one dose of the two dose vaccines.
OTTAWA _ Canada's national panel of vaccine experts says the second COVID-19 vaccine dose can be delayed briefly in a bid to get more people a first dose faster.
Nearly 550,000 doses have now arrived in Canada and about 71 per cent of them injected, with another 380,000 doses scheduled to arrive by the end of the week. Another 208,650 doses of Pfizer's vaccine and 171,700 of Moderna's are expected in Canada this week. However the increased willingness for an early vaccination seems to have come mostly from those who previously indicated they would wait a while, with a slight number coming from both the unsure, and refusal segments.
Trudeau also announced Tuesday that the Canada-U.S. land border will remain closed to non-essential travel until at least February 21 - another 30-day extension to the restrictions in place since mid-March.
Canada's 10 provinces, which have responsibility for administering the vaccines, say supplies are being delivered far too slowly.
