Minimum wage increases go into effect across the state

Starting this year, minimum wage will be increasing from $11 per hour, to $11.60 per hour for businesses with less than 14 employees, and to $11.75 for businesses with more personnel.

It's the first cost-of-living adjustment made to the rate since 2016, when voters approved a series of mandatory increases to take the wage up from the $11 rate that was offered that year.

Its error came hot on the heels of it having to pay 140,000 workers an additional £9.7 million in 2017 when their wages fell below the national minimum, due to payroll system errors.

Employees in 20 states are about to see a pay increase as minimum wage rates are set to increase by Friday.

There's a question about the minimum wage that the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) receives a lot, especially at the start of a new year.

Critics of Flagstaff's policies have pointed out increased wages could hurt business owners' bottom line, as they struggle through the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. More information about wage and hour laws and workplace rights, including filing a complaint, is available from L&I.

"This investment in our workers once again proves that in NY we believe a fair day's work deserves a fair day's pay", state Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon said in a statement.

Trump extends immigration restrictions, citing pandemic's impact on labor market
Trump expanded his tweeted insults beyond his usual targets, the "fake news" media and the Democrats. At least 140 House Republicans have joined the effort.

Most New Mexico cities and towns will feel the effect of the increase, including Albuquerque and Las Cruces.

Meanwhile, Superdrug has been exposed for having forced its staff to buy their own uniform, which dragged their income below the minimum wage.

And public support appears to be growing for minimum wage increases.

Another minimum wage bump is also planned for December 31, 2021, across the state. A Public Agenda/USA Today/Ipsos survey released in September showed increases in public support for a federal minimum wage hike.

President-elect Joe Biden wants to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour, but it's unlikely he'll have filibuster-proof support in the Senate to achieve that.

The retailer failed to pay £15,229 to 2222 employees.
