Realme V15 to launch on January 7 with a MediaTek 800U chip

The Realme V15 has emerged as the official name for the Realme Koi smartphone that was leaked in pictures sometime back and refutes the rumours that the Koi will be the latest flagship phone. Additionally, Realme smartphones like the Realme Koi have been doing rounds of the rumor mill and are expected to be a premium mid-range smartphone.

Realme V15 will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC, meaning there will be support for 5G. The company shared the development on Weibo, which was first spotted by known tipster Mukul Sharma.

Realme is gearing up to launch a new smartphone in China on January 7. One can see a punch-hole camera cut on the phone's front at the top-left. The camera array houses as many as three sensors. Looking at the glossy finish on the rear panel, it hints at a plastic build paving way for an affordable 5G smartphone.

To recall, Realme V5 comes with a 6.5-inch Full HD+ display with a screen resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. Further, the phone will support 50W fast charging. The other details like display size, battery capacity, and the details of the remaining cameras are yet unknown. It is likely that the device may offer a side mounted fingerprint scanner for security purposes. The Geekbench listing shows that it runs on the Android 11 OS and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 720 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM. For the front, there is a 16-megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.1 aperture.
