It's been awhile since I've touched the original Galaxy Chromebook, but I've been using one of Samsung's Book Flex laptops lately and the Chromebook 2 fits right in with the series. This laptop compromises on some things for the previous iteration while cutting nearly 50% off the price. Sadly, battery life and thermal issues ended up making the model a bit of a flop. If you happen to need a Chromebook for video or photo editing, then the Galaxy Chromebook 2 will nearly surely offer more accurate colors than any other Chromebook available at the moment.
While the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 looks similar to the model it replaces, numerous key hardware components inside have been cut down.
Enter the Galaxy Chromebook 2.
Gone is the 13.3-inch 4K OLED touch display, replaced by a 1080p QLED touch panel of the same size.
Galaxy Chromebook 2 will be available starting at $549.99 in Q1 2021. The Chromebook 2 has a 720p webcam suitable for video conferencing on all platforms. The Galaxy Chromebook 2 comes in two colour options including Fiesta Red and Mercury Gray.
(Pocket-lint) - Samsung's putting out news about plenty of new devices in the absence of an in-person CES this year, including the latest, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2. The device also sports a Smart AMP feature, which is said to be 78% louder than normal amps.
Much of the rest of the package remains the same as the original, including a sub-3-pound weight (1.2 kg), a slim aluminum chassis, a backlit keyboard and a color-matched touchpad. The company advertises this new Chromebook to be a combination of mobile theatre, creative canvas, and smart notebook and says this is a flawless fit for everyone from serial streamer to the budding artist.
4 and 8 GB RAM options are offered for the laptop. Connectivity options include two USB Type-C ports, one headphone/mic combo, microSD card slot and Bluetooth 5.0.
The device is powered by Intel processors and also supports ultra-fast Wi-Fi 6. Though you only get an Intel Celeron 5205U for that price (a 15W CPU, 2 cores, 2 threads, with Intel UHD Graphics).
Running on Google's Chrome OS, the new laptop would let users seamlessly multitask.
